Radio Product: FLEX-1500
Software Product: PowerSDR 2.x
Product Version: V2.1.5
Operating System: Win7 (x64)
Relates to: Audio
Issue/Bug Title: Loud hissy audio from phones jack
Current Status: OPEN (Open)
Assigned To: -

Report Detail:
This problem has been happening with a few version of SDR 2.x.  Randomly while using the FLEX-1500 the audio coming out of the earphones will go extremely load.  If I turn the AF to 1 it is intelligible.  If I turn the AF any higher it becomes distorted and hissy.   There is no real pattern to when it happens.  It does seem to happen more often f I am doing something else on the system.  I have seen it do it when I am doing nothing else on the system.  Turning the system off and then back on with the Start button fixes the problem.  The audio from the VAC is not affected nor is any functions of the FLEX-1500

Thanks,

Jim Gay

I am using Win 7 with Flex 1500. I found that using buffer of 512 eliminates the loud, intermittent hiss.

And just to get on the same page as the helpdesk, you may wish to upgrade to PowerSDR 2.2.3 AL, K0VM

Jim, I have had this problem too. Reported it year and a half ago. Talked the the 1500 designer in Dayton. Sent the Radio back to Auston. They did acknowledge a the cause was to to a firmware issue but gave no hint on when it would be resolved. Two things that I noted... It seems to happen much more frequently on Win7 than on XP. On Win7 the problem happened much less frequently if I used a specific USB hub between the radio and the laptop. But not all USB hubs helped. A different model hub from the same manufacture showed no change from the no hub situation. You might also submit a help request at http://helpdesk.flexradio.com/ AL, K0VM
